Success is a family trait. Some men are unstoppable in the face of adversity. They march forward gleefully, claiming divine right to the best of the earth’s bounty. Using the Samuel Smiles-Connecticut policy, however, does not guarantee their success. They don’t wait, scheme, fawn, or attempt to change their sails to catch the wind of common favor. They are always on the lookout for something positive that might come their way, and when it does, they grab it and keep never slowing.
Best regards! Take in the sunlight, smile at your mates, and bring your heart into every handshake whenever you go outside; draw the chin in, keep the crown of the head high, and fill the lungs to the brim.
Never be afraid of being mistaken, and never waste time pondering your foes.
Try to focus your mind on what you want to accomplish, and you’ll be able to drive right to the target, exerting no effort.
Fear is the shoal that has stranded many a baroque, and hate is the rock that divides us. When we are afraid, our decisions become as unstable as a ship’s compass when the hold is full of iron ore; when we hate, we have unshipped the rudder; and if we can’t consider what the gossips say, we have allowed a hawser to foul the screw.
Keep your attention on the significant thing you want to accomplish. Then, as the days go by, you’ll unwittingly grab the opportunities to satisfy your need, just as the coral insect does with the elements it needs from the flowing tide. Imagine in your mind the capable, genuine, and helpful person you strive to be and imagine that the thought you’re thinking is slowly but steadily transforming you into that person.
Thought reigns supreme and it is often referred to as action.
Maintain a robust mental outlook characterized by bravery, openness, and a sense of humor.
According to Darwin and Spencer, this is the method of Development. Each animal evolved the components it needed. The horse is fast because it wants to be; the bird flies because it wants to, and the duck has webbed feet because it wants to swim. All stems from a sincere desire and an answered prayer. We resemble the object on which our hearts are set.
Many people are aware of this, but not sufficiently to shape their lives. We want friends, so we scheme and pursue ‘cross lots after healthy people, and
we wait for good people or alleged good people hoping to become attached to them. The only way to meet new people is to be a friend yourself. And you must be able to function in the absence of it before you are prepared for friendship. You must be self-sufficient to look after yourself before you can support anyone with your surplus resources.
An individual who yearns for friendship but prefers a self-centered attitude will never be alone.
You should maintain isolation rather than community if you want to make friends. Drink in the ozone, sunbathe in the sun, and repeat to yourself in the dark, under the stars, “I am a part of everything I see!” And you’ll realize you’re not just an intruder between the worlds of earth and heaven, but an essential part of the whole. There is no harm that can come to you that does not come to anyone else, and if you die, it will only be in the midst of a global disaster.
What we fear would eventually come to pass, just as Job’s prophecy did. We have set in motion a chain of events that will end in disaster because we have the wrong mentality. People who die in their forties or fifties because of disease were almost always expecting death. The acute tragic disorder is the culmination of a long-term psychiatric illness that has resulted in a chain of events.
Two things influence our character: our mental attitude and how we spend our time. How we are being formed by our thoughts and deeds.
Since you have a firm grasp on the powers of the world, you are strong with them. And once you know this, everything else becomes easy because red corpuscles will flow through your arteries, and your heart will be filled with a strong desire to do and be. Maintain a firm chin and a high crown of the head. We are deities in the chrysalis.
At this point, we established that:
- Some men are unstoppable in the face of adversity.
- An individual who yearns for friendship but prefers a self-centered attitude will never be alone.
- What we fear would eventually come to pass, just as Job’s prophecy did.
- We have set in motion a chain of events that will end in disaster because we have the wrong mentality.
- People who die in their forties or fifties because of disease were almost always expecting death.
